The bunker is located on the Sormi (Finger) hill east of Summajarvi lake. On this picture from the 1930s one can see the anti-tank obstacles, barbed wire and apparently the bunker on Sormi hill. The Sormi hill was dubbed Yazyk (Tongue) by the Russian troops.
Sj5 was dubbed Million bunker because of its extremelly high cost for the Finnish defence budget. Together with the Poppiuslinnake it was the mainstay of Finnish defence in Summa - Lahde sector.
Here one can see the entrance to the central part of the bunker, which is still accessible today. Immediately to the left from the entrance is the observation officer's room, which had an armored cupola before a Russian 280mm mortar tore it into pieces in December 1939. After this the remaining parts of the cupola were removed and replaced with a periscope in a tube. The hole in the ceiling of the observation room had to be filled with concrete. In the background, in the midst of the reinforsing metal rods, one can vaguely see the tube for the periscope. The tube has numerous bullet holes, from which one can judge the intensity of fighting in this area.
This is the eastern casemate of Sj5, which was guarding all area to the east of the bunker upto to Poppiuslinnake.

The western casemate of Sj5 saw very extensive damage - it was first blown up in February 1940 during the assault, and later after the war, when making a movie for Soviet Army on assault of strngpoints. One can enter the interior part of the bunker from here or from the central entrance.
