The bunker was built in 1939; when the war broke out, it was still not completed. The bunker was intended for flanking machine gun fire and was not damaged during the hostilities, just like Sk10 - the manjor thrust of advance of Red Army fell on the bunkers around the Vyborg highway. Sk17 was blown up in summer 1940 just like all remaining bunkers of Mannerheim line.
The dry summer of 1999 saw extensive forest fires in Summa area, one of the fires was just around the bunker. It was quite an awkward and gloomy view of the black burnt trees, black scorched soil and a black ruin of a bunker. During summer 2000 the local forestry started clearing the area from the burnt trees. Now the bunker can be easily seen from the road leading from Vyborg highway to Summa - Lahde area. The anti-tank obstacle line is clearly seen in some 150 - 200 meters to the south from the bunker.

Design of the bunker is similar to that of smaller flanking fire bunkers in Muolaa and Salmenkaita defense sectors. In front of the bunker there is a small hill, which has well preserved trenches - Finnish platoon position.

62 years after the end of the war. Remains of barbed wire obstacles still sticking out of the snow.
