This bunker is located immediately west from Vyborg highway, opposite to Sk6 bunker. The bunker was originally built in 1920s and modernized later in the 1930s. Despite modernization, it remained fairly small - I could probably build similar one at my Grandfather's garden, if I had enough time. View of Sk5 bunker from a birch tree nearby:

The bunker was heavily damaged during the assault and later blown up. The explosion tore off the roof of the bunker, and now it lies some 10 meters away. The fact that the bunker has no roof makes it fairly low, and during summer months it is almost completely hidden by tall grass. The picture you see above was taken in the end of May, when grass was not tall yet.

1 - The old frontal-firing bunker (built in 1920s), converted into an accommodation chamber 2 - Heavy machine gun room with gunport for heavy MG 3 - Room for artillery observer with armoured cupola for observation, gunport for light MG/submachine gun and gunport for a searchlight 4 - Protective flanking wall (wing wall)

The flanking gunport for light MG/submachine gun is still intact, and you can see it in the picture below. The small grass that look like palm trees will grow 1.5 meters high later in the summer and completely hide the bunker. The main gunport for Maxim MG next to this small gunport and is badly damaged by direct hits.

The main gunport of Sk5. The gunport was under direct fire many times, and it is clearly visible - edges of the gunport are merely flattened by numerous direct hits.

Battle reports by 2nd Lt. A. Paitula from bunkers Sk5 and Sk6 for the period Feb 1, 1940 to Feb 6, 1940.
